TheFQNdegassingstation(DS)wasbuiltin1976,thecrudeoilwithgasandwaterwassentto

theDS,themaintargetforDSistoseparatethegasandwaterfromcrudeoil,andconduct

datacollectionofeachindividualwellfromwellpad.SeparatedLiquidandGasareexported

viaindividualTrunkline(s)totheBUTCPFlocatedinBuzurganAreaforfurtherprocessing

andtreatment.

Duetotheincreaseofliquidformthewell,theexistingfacilitiesofFQNcannotmeetthe

requirement,sotwoCrudeProcessingTrains(50Kbbl/dplus20%(each))willbecontructed

2.GENERALREQUIREMENTS

2.1.Undertheworst-casescenario,theprotectionprovidedshallbeadequateforupto12months

underspecifiedenvironmentaldata.OnlyEquipmentthatisdesignedforoutdoorinstallation

willbestoredoutside.TheVendor'sinstructionsforeachitem,material,orequipmentshallbe

strictlyfollowed,unlessmorestringentinstructionshavebeenspecifiedbytheCompanyorare

detailedintheContract.Inparticular,theVendor'sinstructionsfortheCompany'sprovided

equipmentshallbeactivatedwheneverthegoodsarehandedovertotheContractor.Thisshall

alsoimplythesafeguardingoftheequipment'sinternalsaswell,particularlywhenstoredfora

considerableperiodunderidleconditions.

2.2.Theobjectiveistoprotectequipment,erectionmaterialsandselectedconstructionmaterials

againstdamage,contamination,rustingdeteriorationandagainstlossofcomponentswhich

mayresultduringhandlingandstoragefromthetimetheitemsarereceivedattheworksite

untiltheyareinstalledorused.

2.3.Theprotectivemeasurestobetakenattheworksiteinclude:

2.3.1.Provideworksiteinspectionofitemsasreceivedtoverifycompliancewiththepurchase

orderandrenewrustpreventiveincludingvaporphaseinhibitorordesiccant,whererequired.

RefertoSection3foracceptablerustpreventive,vaporphaseinhibitor,desiccantsand

solvents.

2.3.2.ComplywithspecialproceduresrecommendedbytheVendor.

2.3.3.Providesuitablestorageconsideringstorageduration,availablespaceandsecurity.

2.3.4.Provideregularscheduledinspectionstoensurethatprotectivemeasuresareadequate,

draincondensedmoisture,flushwithsolvent,renewrustpreventativesordesiccantswhere

required,andtakecorrectiveactionsiftheexistingmeasuresproveineffective.

2.3.5.Purgewithdryairornitrogenwhererequired.Pressurizecertainequipmentwithdryair

orwithnitrogen,wheretheapplicationofoilbasedrustpreventative,vaporphaseinhibitoror

desiccantsisnotacceptableorpractical.

2.3.6.Rotatetheshaftsofrotatingequipmentandturndriveshaftofreciprocatingmachineryto

movepistons,subjecttothemanufacturer’srecommendationsattherecommendedintervals.

2.3.7.Maintainrecordsofthefollowinginformationforeachitemofmaterialorequipment:

(a)Specifications.

(b)Vendorsrecommendationsanddocumentsrelatingtomattersofequipmentprotection.

2.3.8.Itemsofequipmentthathavebeenshopprimedshouldbeinspectedfordamagetothe

primer.Anyrustingshouldbethoroughlyhandcleanedandtouchedupusinganapproved

cleaningandcoatingmethod.

2.3.9.Allsmallitemsortubulargoodsshallbestoredinthepalletinwhichsuchgoodshave

beenshippedasperconditionssetoutinASTMA-700.Eachpalletshallbecheckedtoensure

itislabeledwiththerelevantpurchaseordernumber,manufacturer’ssymbolsandanitemized

listofcontents.Alllabelingmustbeabletowithstandweatheringupto12monthswithno

fadingordeterioration.

2.3.10.Particularcareshallbegiventotheinspectionofequipmentenclosedandtapedor

heatsealedinatransparentoverwrap,soastopreventopeningordamagingtheprotective

overwrap,unlessthereisevidencethatthehermeticalsealhasfailedinsomefashion.Asmall

off-colourindicatortypedesiccantcanbeinsertedthroughthetransparentoverwrapandtaped

orheatsealedinplacetogiveindicationoffailureoftheoverwrap.

3.RUSTPREVENTIVES

3.1.Rustpreventativeshallbeappliedtoexposedfinishedsurfacesandelsewhereasnecessary

toequipmentreceivedattheworksitethatisnotadequatelyprotected.Equipment

manufacturersshallbeconsultedforapplicationinstructionsregardingprotectionfortheir

specificitemofsupply.

3.2.ThreebasictypesofrustpreventivesperTable3.1shallbeavailableandusedasoutlined

herein.COMPANYequivalentproductsshallbeusedwherepossible.

3.2.1.Bearings,cylindersandotherinternalsurfacesshallbeprotectedwithalubricatingoil

baserustpreventive,TypeA.Itmaybeappliedbybrushing,splashing,sprayingorthrough

lubricatingsystems.Allgearboxesandbearinghousingsshallbeflushedcleantoremoverust

preventivesandaccumulateddustpriortoputtingequipmentintoservice.

3.2.2.Externalsurfaceswhereaharddurablefinishisdesiredshallbeprotectedwithan

asphalticbaserustpreventive,TypeB.Itmaybeappliedbybrushingordipping.Itmustbe

completelyremovedbyapetroleumsolventbeforeinstallingequipmentorputtingequipment

inservice.

3.2.3.ExternalsurfaceswhereremovalofTypeBrustpreventivewouldbedifficultorwherea

lubricatingfeatureisdesirableshallbeprotectedbyapetroleumgreasebaserustpreventive,

TypeC.Asanalternative,arustpreventivethatwilldrytoathinplasticorwaxyfinishmaybe

usediftheapplicationdoesnotrequirelubricationandremovalwouldnotbedifficult.TypeC

rustpreventivemaybeappliedbybrushingordipping.Itmustbecompletelyremovedbya

petroleumsolventbeforeinstallingequipmentorputtingequipmentinservice.

alternatesmayalsobeused.

4.OVERALLSTORAGEREQUIREMENTS

Normally,equipmentshallbestoredsuchthatthesettingissimilartotheoperatingposition.

Freestandingpanels,switchrack,etc.,shallbestoredupright.Wheninternalaccessis

requiredforinspection,etc.,storageshallallowaccess.

4.1.OutdoorStorage

4.1.1.Ingeneral,equipmentandmaterialstobeinstalledoutdoorsmaybestoredoutdoors

whereaccidentaldamageisnotlikelytooccur.Suchitemshallbeplacedonsolidsupports,

palletsordunnageinwelldrainedareasandcoveredforweatheranddirtprotection.

4.1.2.Similartypeequipmentshallbestoredinacommonareainviewoftherustpreventive

inspectionandrenewalprogram,gaspressurizingprogramandsupplyingpowertoelectrical

equipmentspaceheaters.

4.1.3.Temporarycribbingorsupportshallbeprovidedasrequiredforvessels,columnsand

exchangersthatcannotbesetinplaceonfoundationorsupportwhenreceivedatworksite.

4.2.IndoorStorage

4.2.1.Ingeneral,equipmentandmaterialstobeinstalledindoorsshallbestoredindoorson

supportsandprovidedwithadequateventilation(HVAC)systemsubjecttothedesignated

equipment'sVendorinstructions.

4.2.2.Subjecttothedesignatedequipment'sVendorinstructionsandthesensitivityofthe

equipment,someindoortypeequipmentmaybestoredoutdoorsifashedroofandtarpaulin

siding,orequivalent,isprovidedandtheequipmentormaterialitselfissealedinplasticfilmor

container.

4.3.GasPressurizationorDesiccantCharge

4.3.1.Equipmentsuchaspressurevessels,exchangers,closedtanks,centrifugal

compressors,rotarycompressors,blowers,steamturbinesandgasturbinesshallbenitrogen

pressurizedorhavedesiccantaddedwheneversospecifiedbytheVendor.Unlessotherwise

noted,smallpumps,centrifugalcompressors,rotarycompressorsandblowersmaybeTypeA

protectedasnotedinparagraph5.2.

4.3.2.Allprotectedequipmentshallbeadequatelymarkedtoindicatethetypeofprotection

applied.

4.3.3.Gaspressurization,ifrequired,shallbeprovided:

Allequipmentwhichrequirestorageunderinertgasblanket(suchasnitrogen)shall

incorporatetemporaryconnectionsforpressuregaugeandtop-up.Suitablesafety

proceduresshallbeputinplacetoavoidentryofPersonnelintoEquipmentunder

inertgasblanket.

Ifequipmentisrelativelygastight,theunitmaybegaspressurizedto35kPa.

Equipmentthatislargeinvolumeorhasahighleakagerateat35kPamaybe

pressurized0.25kPato0.5kPaandmaintainedbyapressureregulatingvalve.A

manometershallbeprovidedatapointontheequipmentremotefromthepressure

connectionandshallbemonitoredat2-weekintervals.

Mechanicalequipmentshallbepurgedwithaquantityofgasequalto1to3timesthe

casingvolumetobeprotectedpriortoestablishingthenormalgaspressurization

level.

4.3.4.Indicatortypedesiccant,ifrequired,maybeprovidedasfollows:

(a)Typeofequipmentwilldeterminethetypeofdesiccantcontainertouse;contaminationof

someequipmentwithdustorparticlesofdesiccantmaybeprohibitive.

(b)Desiccantchargesshallbelocatedatmajoropeningsofequipment.Thequantityof

desiccantshallbesuchthatprotectionisprovidedthroughouttheperiodbetweenscheduled

inspections;re-sealingofmajoropeningsmayberequiredifdesiccantlifeisundulyshort.

Twotofourweeksorlongeractiveperiodisdesirable.

4.4.SparePartsStorage

4.4.1.Ingeneral,sparepartsshallbestoredindoors,preferablyinaseparatespareparts

storagearea.

4.4.2.Allsparesshallbeclearlydesignatedandtheprotectionmeasuresappliedclearly

defined.

4.4.3.COMPANYshallbeadvisedofanydamageincurredduringshipment.

4.4.4.Specialattentionshallbetakenorrustpreventionmeasuresandgeneralprotection

againstatmosphericconditionsinviewofprolongedstorage.

4.5.LubricantStorage

4.5.1.Indoorstorageispreferred.Adequatespaceshallbeprovidedforstorageandforthe

handlingofdispensingequipmentforcleaningandservicingmaterials.Thespaceshallbekept

lockedanditsuserestrictedtoqualifiedpersonnel.

4.5.2.Outdoorstorageshallbeavoidedbut,ifnecessary,drumsshallbestoredonplanks.All

containersshallbeelevatedandcoveredwithtarpaulinforweatherprotection.

4.5.3.Oneormorelubricantstoragespacesmaybelocatedforefficientoperationat

convenientdispersalpoints.Storageareasshallbeproperlycoveredandnosmoking

permitted.Adequatefirefightingapparatusshallbelocatedforconvenientuse.

5.SPECIFICREQUIREMENTS

5.1.General

5.1.1.Forlargemulti-stagecentrifugalpumps,compressors,gearboxesandturbinesthatare

normallystoredunassembled,themanufacturer’srecommendedproceduresshallbe

followed.

5.1.2.Setonfoundation,ifavailable,orstoreoutdoorsundertarpaulinorplasticfilmsecured

againsthighwindsandentryofdirt.Arrangetopermitaccessforperiodicinspection.Remove

allaccessoriessusceptibletodamageduringconstruction.Protectaccessoriesasrequired,

tagwithequipmentidentificationandstoreinasafeplace.

5.1.3.Stainlesssteelmachinerythatistobeinsulatedshallbestoredindoors,ifpracticable,in

orderthatchlorideattackisminimized,therebyeliminatingstresscorrosioncracking.Ifstored

outside,painttopreventchlorideattackandkeepclosedtoatmosphere.

5.1.4.SparerotatingpartsofequipmentshallbestoredperVendor’srecommendations.

Intermediateshaftsupportmaybenecessarytopreventshaftsag.

5.1.5.Protectionrequirementsforpackageequipmentsuchascompressor-driver-seal/lubeoil

combinationshallbeasspecifiedbyVendor.Asaminimumeachcomponentoftheassembly

shallbeprotectedasnotedinthisspecification.

5.1.6.Renewallrustpreventivematerials.

5.1.7.Formachineryspares,ifstorageexceeds2years,open,inspectandrenewrust

preventivesasrequired.

5.2.SmallGeneralServicePumps,TurbinesandGearboxes

5.2.1.IfVendorhasnotappliedrustpreventivesorhasnotmadeaspecificrecommendation

thatrustpreventivesshallnotbeapplied,flushallinteriorsurfacesincludingcase,bearing

housingwithsolventperrustpreventiveVendorinstructionuntilclean.Ifpackingorsealisnot

installed,stuffwithsoakedragsintoclearancebetweenshaftandhousingwherespecified.Fill

caseandhousingsuntilshaftsealandbearingsarecovered.Rotateshafttocoatshaft

impellerbearingsandmechanicalseal,draincaseandplug.

5.2.2.IfVendorhasappliedrustpreventive,checkalldrainsforpresenceofwater.Ifmoisture

ispresent,proceedasabove,otherwisetheunitcanbeplacedintostorage.

5.2.3.Renewflangeandcouplingprotectionasrequired.Closeallopenings.

5.2.4.Whentheequipmentissetonitsfoundation,installagasketed,blindflangebetween

flangeditemandpiping.Donotremoveblindsuntilpipinghasbeencleaned.Capsorplugs

shallnotberemovedfromthreadedconnectionsuntilconnectingpipinghasbeencleaned.

5.2.5.Eachflangeforcentrifugalorrotarycompressorshallbeshippedwithprotectionplates.

Preliminarypipingfit-upshallbemadewithplatesinplace.Platesshallbekeptinplaceas

longaspossible.Theremovalofeachplateshallbedoneonlyimmediatelybeforefinalpipe

fit-up.

5.3.CentrifugalPumps

5.3.1.Storepumpsinaclean,dry,andwell-ventilatedareatopreventexposuretomoisture,

dust,andcorrosiveelements.Avoidstoringpumpsinareaswithextremetemperature

fluctuationsordirectsunlight.Ensurethestorageareaisfreefromvibrationandmechanical

bythemanufacturer)topreventstressoninternalcomponents.

5.3.2.Applyaprotectivecoatingorcorrosioninhibitortoexposedmetalsurfacestoprevent

rustandcorrosion.Coverthepumpwithabreathable,waterprooftarporprotectivecoverto

shielditfromdustandenvironmentalcontaminants.

5.3.3.Rotatethepumpshaftmanuallyatleastonceevery30daystopreventbearingbrinelling

(indentationscausedbyprolongedstaticload).Applyalightcoatingofoilorgreasetotheshaft

andbearingstopreventcorrosionandensuresmoothoperation.

5.3.4.Inspectsealsandgasketsregularlyforsignsofdryingorcracking.Applyasuitable

lubricantorpreservativetomaintaintheirelasticity.Ensurethatmechanicalsealsarenot

exposedtoexcessivehumidityorcontaminants.

5.3.5.Coverallflanges,nozzles,andthreadedconnectionswithprotectivecapsorplugsto

preventdamageandcontamination.Ensurethatopeningsaresealedtopreventtheingressof

dirt,moisture,orinsects.

5.3.6.Checkandreplenishlubricationinbearingsandothermovingpartsasperthe

manufacturer’srecommendations.Usetheappropriatetypeandgradeoflubricantspecified

forthepump.

5.3.7.Conductregularinspections(atleastonceeverythreemonths)toensurethepump

remainsingoodcondition.Checkforsignsofcorrosion,moistureingress,ordamageto

protectivecoveringsandaddressanyissuesimmediately.

5.3.8.Recommendationofpumpmanufacturershallbetakenintoconsiderationforthe

storageofpumps.

5.4.GearUnits

Subjecttomanufacturer’sinstructions,rotateshaftsothatbothdriveanddrivenshaftsare

rotated1¼revolutionsforthepreviousposition.Duringinspection,drainaboutonequartand

replaceifnotcontaminated.Ifmoistureisevident,draincompletely,flushwithsolventandrefill

withoil.Takecorrectiveactiontopreventrecurrence.(Checkmanufacturer’sinstruction,

whichmightsupersedetheabove).

5.5.ReciprocatingPumpsandCompressors

5.5.1.Subjecttomanufacturer’sinstructionsandhousingsandturndriveshafttomovepiston

about1¼strokes.

5.5.2.Reciprocatingcompressorcylindersareusuallycoatedwithaspecialfilmthatwillbe

destroyedifthecylinderisstroked.Manufacturer’sinstructionsmustbeconsulted.

5.5.3.Temporarypipingorothermeansshallbeprovidedatsuctionanddischargetopermit

pistonmovementwithoutoverpressurizingtheunit.

5.6.PressureVessels,HeatExchangersandTanks

5.6.1.Mostoftheequipmentinthiscategorydoesnotrequirethespecialprotection.Ifrequired,

specialrequirementswillbenotedinthepurchaseorders,specificationsordrawings.

5.6.2.Shopfabricatedtanks,openorclosedtop,shallbestoredupright,leveledtodrain

properlywithdrainsopen.

5.7.InstrumentsandControlPanels

5.7.1.Indoorstorageofinstruments,exceptreliefandcontrolvalvesover2-inch,shallbe

required.RefertoParagraph4.2forvarioustypesofindoorstoragethatmayberequiredto

providestorageinaccordancewithVendorrecommendations.

5.7.2.Mostcontainersshallbeopenedtopermitinspection,count,specificationcheck,etc.

5.7.3.Renewalofrustpreventivecoatings,flangecovers,hermeticenclosures,VSImaterials

mayberequireddependingontypeofinstrumentandexpectedstorageduration.

5.7.4.Shopassembledcontrolpanelsshallberetainedintheshippingcontainersuntilmoved

tothecontrolhouse.ThedesiccantorVSImaterialincludedinthepanelhermeticenclosure

shallbeinspectedat6-monthintervalsandrenewedwhenrequired.

5.7.5.Allvalvesexceptasnotedin5.7.1shallbestoredoutdoorsonaclearedareaprovided

thataccessoriesarenotsubjecttoseveremoistureanddamage.Machinefinishsurfacesshall

beproperlycoatedandflangeopeningsshallbeprotectedandsealed.Thevalvesshallbe

storedonpalletizedsupportswithacovering.Outdooritemsshallbeinspectedat6-month

intervalswithrustpreventives,cover,etc.,renewedwhenrequired.Valvesshallbestoredwith

steminapproximatelyverticalpositiontoavoidentrappingmoistureanddirtinthebonnet.

5.8.Piping,ValvesandFittings

5.8.1.Piping

Protectionoffinishedpipeendsandexclusionofdirtshallbeenforced.

5.8.2.ValvesandFittings

5.8.2.1.ValveandFittingitemsNPS2-inchandsmallershallbestoredindoors.Protectionof

flangedfacingandweldendsshallbeenforced.Ingeneral,flangefacingsandvalveparts

rustpreventivecoatedbyVendorwillnotrequirerenewalofcoating,exceptringjointflanges.

5.8.2.2.ValvesNPS3-inchandlargemaybestoredoutdoorsonacovereddunnage.

5.8.2.3.FittingsNPS3-inchandlargermaybestoredoutdoorsonwoodsupportsprovided

withadequatecover.Renewcoatingandcoveronflangedorotherspecialitemsasrequired

andprovidetarporfilmcover.Otherfittingsshallbestoredondunnageandpositionsoasto

beself-draining.Providewoodspaces,bracing,etc.,topreventdamagetoleveledends.

5.9.Motors

5.9.1.Weatherproofedmotorsshallbestoredoutdoorsonsupportsundertarpsorplastic

sheetingandsecuredagainstthewind.Oil/waterprooftapeshallbeusedtosealopening

betweenshaftandcase.RemoveVendorprovidedfilmcoversfromventilationopeningsofdrip

proof,etc.,motors.Renewshaftcouplingandcoatingsandplasticfilmcoverasrequired.Drain

andsolventflushifdrainfluidshowscontamination.Filloilbearinghousingswithoil.Inthe

caseofspecialmotors,theVendor’sinstructionsshallbefollowedonthecontinuedprotection

ofitsequipment.

5.9.2.Ascertainthatgrease-typebearingsarefullygreasedandrenewedyearlyat6-month

intervals.

TheFQNdegassingstation(DS)wasbuiltin1976,thecrudeoilwithgasandwaterwassentto

theDS,themaintargetforDSistoseparatethegasandwaterfromcrudeoil,andconduct

datacollectionofeachindividualwellfromwellpad.SeparatedLiquidandGasareexported

viaindividualTrunkline(s)totheBUTCPFlocatedinBuzurganAreaforfurtherprocessing

andtreatment.

Duetotheincreaseofliquidformthewell,theexistingfacilitiesofFQNcannotmeetthe

requirement,sotwoCrudeProcessingTrains(50Kbbl/dplus20%(each))willbecontructed

inFQNdegassingstation,withUtilitiesandAuxiliarySupportingSystems.

1.3.Purpose

Thisdocumentoutlinestheminimumrequirementsandproceduresforprotectingequipment

andmaterialsduringexportshipmentfortheFQNNewDegassingStationUpgradingProject.

ItisintendedtoserveasaminimumrequirementguideandwilldependonuseofVendor’s

judgmenttodetermineifphysicalcharacteristicsofitemsbeingpackedwillrequiremorethan

theseminimumstandardstoensuresafearrivalattheirdestination.Whenportionsofthese

instructionsarenotapplicable,thebestcommercialexportpackingmethodstoattain

comparableprotectionshallbeused.Inallcases,materialswillbepreparedforshipmentto

withstandmultiplehandling,outsidestorage,exposuretorain,dustandsaltspray.

IftheVendor'sstandardexportpackingwillprovideequalorbetterprotectionatalessercost,

thisinformationshouldbebroughttotheattentionoftheCOMPANY.Ifanareaofdoubt

arises,theCOMPANYshallbecontacted.

Thisdocumentshouldbereadinconjunctionwiththetechnicalrequirementsspecifiedinthe

EquipmentDataSheetsandrelatedPROJECTspecifications,codesandstandards.

suppliesandequipment.Packingandconservationofgoodsshallbesufficienttoprotectthem

fromdamageduringtransitfrompointofmanufacturerandstorageatjobsiteunder

conditionswhichmayinvolvemultiplehandling,extendedstorage,exposuretomoistureand

thepossibilityofpilferage.

3.1.PackagingMaterials

3.1.1Felt,cellophanepaper,polyestercuttings,crepecelluloseandsomeequallyefficient

materialsmaybeusedforpaddingorcushioning.

3.1.2Lumbershallbenew,soundandwell-seasoned,knotsarepermittedprovidedtheyare

soundandtightanddonotexceedone-thirdoftheboardwidth.Theknotsshallbelocatedas

nottocauserailinginterferencewhichwouldresultinstructuralweakness.Thelumbershall

becertifiedcompletelyfreefrombark,insectinfestationanddecay.

3.2.PackingMethodsandProhibitedMaterials

3.2.1.Whenconsolidatingmaterialsinaboxorcrate,itemsshallbepackedornestedto

reducevolumeasmuchaspossible.Allitemsshallbebracedand/orcushionedasnecessary

withinthecontainertopreventdamagefromshock,vibrationandroughhandling.Finished

andpaintedsurfaceswillbeprotectedfromabrasion.

3.2.2.Smallitemsandsparepartsdangertomainitemshallbeseparatelypackagedwithbox

properlyidentifiedastoitsmainitem.

3.2.3.Itisnecessarythatallshippingcontainersbetightlypacked.Theywillbefilledwith

cushioningmaterialorsecurelyblockedofftopreventanymovementofcontentswherevoid

appear.Woodenwoolmaybefreelyusedforpacking.

3.2.4.Containersshallbepackedinsuchamannertoinsureanevendistributionofweight

withinthecase.

3.2.5.Heavieritems,wherepossible,shouldbepackedonthebottomwithlighteritemson

thetop.

3.2.6.Shouldanymaterialsbescheduledtobefreightedasdeckcargo,additionalpacking

instructionsmayberequiredofwhichVENDORwillbeadvisedforvesselsandcolumn.

suchassmallparts,bolts,nuts,gaskets,etc.shallbepackedinwoodencasesseparatelyfor

eachvesselandmarkedwiththesameitemnumberasthevessel.

3.2.10.Palletizing

Itemswhicharenotcratedorboxedandareimpervioustodamagefrommoisture,water

handlingandexternaldamage,whichcanbeconvenientlysecuredtoapallettofacilitate

handling,shallbepalletized.

3.3.OpenCrates

Opencratesarenotallowed.

4.PROTECTIONMETHODS

4.1.Equipment(includedskidandmodule)thatshouldbesealedofffromtheatmosphereshallbe

protectedinpropermethod.

4.2.Equipmentthatcannotbesealedofffromtheatmospherebywrappingorboxingshallbe

protectedbycoatingtheunpaintedsurface.

4.3.Flangeopeningsshallbecoatedwithalayerofanti-corrosivematerialthenclosedoffwith

wooden,metallicorplastic,fastenedinplacewithtapeornon-rustingdevices.

4.4.Cautionshallbeexercisedinapplyingpreservativessothatitemsfabricatedofleather,mica,

rubber,andsimilarmaterial,arenotcoatedwiththepreservativecompoundbecauseofthe

damagingeffectonsuchitems.

4.5.VendorshallprovideseaworthypackingprocedureforelectricalequipmentMotor,Panels,

Batteryetc,andprovideseaworthypackingforInsulation,Mastic,Cement,Specialaggregate.

4.6.Vesselsshall,wherepossible,bepackedonskidconstructionsandsecuredwithadjustable

steelstraps.Manholesandothermajoropeningsshallbeprotectedwitheitherplasticcapsor

woodenlids,whichshallbefirmlysecured.Smalleropeningsshallbeclosedwithplasticplugs.

4.7.Allflangedconnectionsofvessels/rotarymachinesshallbeprotectedbymetalplatescorrectly

casketedbywoodenplugsorplasticcapssuitablysecuredinpositions.

4.8.Shippingcontainersshallbeconstructedandsealedinamannerthatshallprovidemaximum

protectionfrompilferageandtheft.

4.9.Afterrust-treatingandsealing,equipmentshallbeboxedandcratedasspecifiedinSection3.0

ofthisspecification.

4.10.Vesselsifrequired,shallbenitrogenpurgedatapressureof0.35bar(g)duringtransportation

andstorageatsitetoprotectthevesselinternalsfrommoistureandcorrosion.

4.11.Allinternalpartsshallbesuitablysupportedorbraced.SUPPLIERshallshowdetailson

fabricationdrawings.

4.12.SparepartsandSpecialToolsshallbepackedseparatelyandclearlymarked“SpareParts”

and“SpecialTools”respectively.

4.13.Sparepartlistshallbesuppliedwithequipment.Moreover,ifspecialtoolsaresuppliedwith

theequipmentthen,specialtoollistshallalsobeprovided.

4.14.Priortotransportation,allinstrumentationandotherequipmentvulnerabletodamageshallbe

disassembledandtagged.

4.15.Weightsand“centreofgravity”diagramsshouldbeavailableforallequipmentabove2tons.

4.16.AusteniticStainlessSteel

Equipmentmadeofausteniticstainlesssteelmaterialshallbeprotectedwithawaterproof,

chloridefree,overwraptopreventexposuretochloridecontamination,suchaswettingbysea

water,seawaterspray,rainordewinanrefineryatmosphereandroadsalts.

4.17.Toprotecttemporarysaddlesduringtransportation,ensuretheyaresecurelyfastenedtothe

transportframeusingpaddedrubbertopreventabrasion.Applyalightrust-preventiveoilor

waxcoatingtoexposedsteelsurfacestoavoidcorrosion,especiallyinhumidorsea

environments.Useweatherproofcoversifexposedtorain.Forlongshipments,inspectsaddles

pre-departuretoconfirmnolooseboltsorstructuraldamage,andreinforcewithadditional

strappingifneededtopreventshifting.
